Caravan celebrates Hanukkah with tales of our favorite Hanukkah treat.

Latkes For Everyone features hand-crafted puppets, beautiful staging, loads of interaction, heart, and humor!

Stories include:

The Borrowed Hanukkah Latkes (story by Linda Glaser) – Rachel cheers up her lonely elderly neighbor with kindness and nagging.

The Golems Latkes (Story by Eric Kimmel) – Rabbi Judea leaves his housemaid in charge while he visits the emperor. Meanwhile, a golem – a creature made from clay – comes to life and creates more latkes than the city can contain.

The Chanukkah Guest (Story by Eric Kimmel) – Bear follows the smell of latkes to Bubbe Brayna’s cottage. Thinking her guest is the rabbi in a lovely fur coat, Bubba gives Old Bear a warm welcome and all the latkes he can eat!

Bulbis – The classic Yiddish song performed with a giant potato marionette.

Jonathan and Karen could not have been any better. Children and parents alike were thrilled with the performance. The program was engaging, educational, and truly interactive. The puppets were a treat to look at. He explained how many of the puppets were made with found objects. The following Storytime two sisters each brought a puppet they had made. Their grandmother said that one of the girls had seen an open pod on the ground and declared it to be a pig’s nose. Their puppets were imaginative and completely inspired by Jonathan.

Jonathan is an wonderful creative talent. His shows are funny and usually contain a message sensitive to our diverse community. The message is always situated in a funny and very entertaining story.
