“Raise Your Voice!” features stories and songs that celebrate speaking up as a tool for creativity and growth. Audiences are treated to classic and original stories, beautiful handcrafted puppets and loads of interactive music!

Stories include:

The Little Engine That Could – In Caravan’s take on Watty Piper’s beloved  story, the little engine overcomes doubts and fears to bring toys to the children on the other side of the mountain.

Seeking Wisdom – Anansi the spider seeks wisdom from community members (Grocer, Banker, Bus driver, Trash Collector). He learns to use common sense and do your part!”
Based on an African Folktale

The Lion and the Mouse – Giant Lion scorns the tiny mouse, ’til only a mouse can help him.

The Sleeping Dragon – Little mouse tries to wake the biggest dragon with inappropriate methods. Finally, with audience help, a whisper works where all else fails. Hand puppets and  a unique lap puppet are used.

Jonathan and Karen could not have been any better. Children and parents alike were thrilled with the performance. The program was engaging, educational, and truly interactive. The puppets were a treat to look at. He explained how many of the puppets were made with found objects. The following Storytime two sisters each brought a puppet they had made. Their grandmother said that one of the girls had seen an open pod on the ground and declared it to be a pig’s nose. Their puppets were imaginative and completely inspired by Jonathan.

Jonathan is an wonderful creative talent. His shows are funny and usually contain a message sensitive to our diverse community. The message is always situated in a funny and very entertaining story.
